Mihyun


Mihyun Kim is an assistant professor of Statistics within the School of Mathematical and Data Sciences at West Virginia University. Before joining WVU, Dr. Kim was a post-doctoral fellow in the department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, University of Waterloo under the supervision of Prof. Greg Rice. She received her doctoral degree from the Statistics department from Colorado State University in 2021, advised by Prof. Piotr Kokoszka.


Dr. Kim’s primary research interests lie in the development of statistical methods for analyzing functional data and functional time series, with particular attention to applications in finance, health science, and environmental science. She also studies extreme value analysis, particularly heavy tails analysis and regular variation.
